Kenneth G. "Ken" Priest

Kenneth G. "Ken" Priest, age 89, of 7387 Angling Rd., Wooster, passed away, Sunday, August 7th, 2011 at Westview Manor Nursing Center in Wooster following a period of declining health. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Pastor's John Schmid and Robin Dillon officiating followed by interment at Warner Pioneer Cemetery in Wooster. Visitation will be today (Tuesday) between 11 - 1 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born on May 24, 1922 in Jeromesville (Ashland County), Ohio to Lloyd and Ethel (Young) Priest and has been a resident of the area for all of his life. During his childhood, he attended the Yankeetown grammer (one room) school house and later graduated from Wooster High School in 1940. He married Kathryn "Kate" Morr. She survives. He began his trucking career in 1946 driving with his brother in the milk truck hauling business. In 1957 he became owner and operator of Ken Priest Trucking which is still presently in business. His memberships include: member of Oak Chapel Methodist Church in Wooster, president of the Wayne County Mens Garden Club, all four levels of Blachleyville, Pomona State and National Grange, Wayne Metropolitan Housing Authority, Plain Twp. Trustee for over 30 years, Officer and Secretary of Community Action Wayne/Medina, active member of the Wayne County Rural Youth, 4-H advisor for 20 years; enjoyed sponsoring square dancing through the 4-H and Rural Youth clubs; loved bowling, NASCAR racing and going to many county fairs throughout Ohio with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Peggy (Sam) Hibbs of Wooster and a granddaughter, Crystal Hibbs; 2 sisters, Dorothy Priest and Betty James. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 6 brothers, Walter, Clarence "Whitey", Gail "Sandy", George, Lloyd Priest, Jr. and Robert "Bob" Priest and a sister, Marguerite.
