Norma J. Condry

Norma J. "Bunny" Condry, age 76, formerly of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, February 4th, 2011 at the Inn at University Village in Massillon. Services will be Tuesday, 12:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Pastor Julia L. Wertz officiating. Interment will follow at Warner Pioneer Cemetery in Wooster. Visitation will be Monday (this evening) from 6 -8 p.m. and one hour (11:00 - 12:00p.m.) prior to services at the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at: www.custerglenn.com. She was born on August 15, 1934 in Massillon, Ohio to Paul Martin and Edna Mae (Douglas) Schultz. She graduated from Dalton High School in 1952 and has been a Dalton and Wooster resident for most of her life. She started working as a nurses aide for Shady Lawn Health Care Center in Dalton and then graduated from the former Massillon City Nursing School in 1971 where she obtained her LPN certificate. She then worked for the former Wayne General Hospital in Orrville and then at Wooster Community Hospital. She was very proud to help and care for those through her profession as a nurse. She married Robert L. "Mick" Condry on December 18, 1974 in Dalton. He went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2001. In her earlier years, she enjoyed being involved with bowling leagues and was proud of her trophies; she enjoyed volunteering to cook for the monthly Dalton Rotary Club; was a member of the Dalton All Girls Marching Band and former member of the Dalton Fireman's Ladies Auxilliary; her hobbies included making Hook Rugs for many years and also she enjoyed helping her husband Mick cut firewood; throughout her life, Norma was always known for her helpful and kind nature. She loved to laugh with family and friends and was always willing and available to help those in need and never once met a stranger. She is survived by her children, Craig Powley and his companion, Mechelle Carpenter of Dalton, Jenny (Larry) Steiner of Orrville, David (Maria) Powley of Ft. Wayne, IN., and Joyce (Jeff) Johnson of Orrville; grandchildren, Anna, Aaron, Emily and Zachary; step-children, Barbara (Ron) Broome, Michael (Bonnie) Condry and Beverly (Gordon) Zemrock and grandchildren, Rachel, Alex and Meghan and a great-grandchild; 2 sisters, Camille (Skip) Olsen of Dalton and Carmen (Dave) Owens of Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Donald and sister-in-law, Shirley and former husband, Bud Powley. The family wishes to thank both the Crossroads Hospice of NE Ohio and the Inn at University Village for their exceptional care and concern for Norma during her stay.
