Richard "Rich" Earl Daye

Richard "Rich" Earl Daye, age 70, of 1031 Dale Dr., Wooster, went home to be with his Lord and Savior who he had spent his life loving and serving on Tuesday, August 30th, 2011. After a four year challenge with cancer, Rich has won the final battle and is now receiving his eternal reward. A memorial service of celebration will be held on Sunday, 11:30 a.m. at the Wooster Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Nathan Ward officiating. The family will greet friends following services for a time of fellowship and remembrances. Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster is privileged with serving the family. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at: www.custerglenn.com. Rich was born July 13, 1941 in Wooster to the late Earl and Dessie (Morris) Daye. He was a 1959 graduate of Norwayne High School. Rich married Judith Brown on March 4, 1962. He was a life long member of Wooster Church of the Nazarene serving in many capacities throughout the years. Rich chose to take early retirement from the Ashland Oil Refinery in Canton, Ohio in order to fulfill a call the Lord had placed on his heart to serve as the Care Pastor at Wooster Church of the Nazarene. Rich felt these were the best times of their lives and treasured being able to touch the lives of the people God brought across their pathway. He had also been a long distance trucker, electrician, builder and factory worker. He enjoyed landscaping, wood carving and raising hostas, rabbits, pygmy goats and tropical fish. His favorite enjoyment was playing games and visiting with his family. He is survived by his wife, Judy, and three children, Kelley (Robert) Scavuzzo of Georgia, Michael (Susie Swartz) Daye of Florida and Mark (Cindy Wiles) Daye of Wooster; grandchildren, Tony Scavuzzo, Matthew Scavuzzo, Thomas Scavuzzo, Bethany Daye, Timothy Daye, Natasha Daye and Jaira Daye; brothers, Charles (Dixie) Daye of Alabama, Donald (Ruth) daye of Wooster, Robert (Joanie) Daye of Georgia and Kenneth (Joanie) Daye of Pennsylvania plus nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. Rich is preceded in death by his parents.
