Ruth A. Miller

Ruth A. Miller, age 87, of Jones Ave., Wooster, went home to be with the Lord and husband, Friday, December 4th, 2009 at West View Manor Nursing Center in Wooster following a brief illness. Services will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home,2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Rev. Dr. Alan Nathan officiating followed by interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wooster. Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m. and one hour (10:00-11:00) prior to services on Monday. Ruth was born in Wayne County on February 26, 1922 to Ralph Ray and Jenness (Weahry) Spade and has been a resident of the area all of her life. She married Cletus "Clete" Jay Miller in Wooster in 1941. He passed away on November 23, 1985. They also served as foster parents for many years. They both previously owned and operated the former Dynamite Restaurant in Wooster; she then worked as a bookkeeper for Buehlers, Curry Lumber Co. and the Municipal Building in Wooster for many years. She was a 52 year member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wooster since 1957 and was involved with many activities including: Bach-Trinity Ladies Circle, Project Day and Bereavement Meals. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 68 and VFW Auxiliary Post 1081; served for People To People and Meals On Wheels for many years. She and her husband, "Clete" loved to fish on Lake Erie and was nicknamed "The Walleye Lady"; was very close to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she taught to fish and play cards. She also loved to bake and cook. She is survived by her 2 sons, Roger E. (Jenifer) Miller of Smithville and Les A. (Ramonda) Miller of Wooster; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilbur Spade of Wooster. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Carl and Charles Spade and 2 sisters, Fayanna Beichler and Esther Zimmerman.
