James A. "Jim" DiLucca

James A. "Jim" DiLucca, age 89, of Wooster, passed away Sunday morning, January 24th, 2010 at Brookdale Place, Wooster following a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Rev. Fr. Stephen Moran officiating followed by interment at Wooster Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be one hour prior to services (10:00-11:00a.m.) at the funeral home. He was born in Wooster on September 4, 1920 to Dominic and Theresa (Iannarelli) DiLucca and has been a life long resident of the Wooster area. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII in California, Colorado and New Mexico from April 1942-December 1945. He worked for United Steel Fabricators and Crown Steel for 31 years before retiring in 1986. He married Murzie M. (Plymale) in Catlettsburg, Ky. on September 29, 1987. She survives. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling ,woodworking and was a member of the American Legion. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son, James A. DiLucca, Jr. of Wooster; a daughter, Joanne (Robert) Schlub of Chalan Pago, Guam; three grandchildren, Hala, Karl,and Susanna Schlub; many other nieces, nephews and cousins, including Louise Di Giacomo of Wooster, Bonnie Rozkowski of Boosier City, LA., and Beverly Conway of Orrville, Terry Renner of Wooster and numerous grand nieces and nephews; other close family including Frank LaVenia and Emalee Cayes, Linda and Sonny McWeeney and Arlene Marton all of West Salem and Peggy Thompson of Wooster. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his previous wife, Ruth Emily Kass of 35 years; a brother, Albert Richard DiLucca; a sister, Mary Jane Renner and a niece Theresa DiLucca Zwald. The family wishes to especially thank the staff of both Brookdale Place in Wooster and Hospice and Palliative Care of Wayne County for all of their attentive care and concerns for Mr. DiLucca.
