Rex A. Leiner, Sr.

Rex A. Leiner, Sr., age 65, formerly of Holmesville, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 19th, 2011 at his residence in Perrysville following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, May 14th, 2011, 1:00 p.m. at Greenbriar Conference Centre, 50 Riffel Rd., Wooster. The family will greet friends for a time of reflection following services. It was his wishes to be cremated. Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster is privileged with serving the family. Rex was born on October 15, 1945 in Millersburg to Harold "Bub" and Iva (Hudnut) Leiner and lived for most of his life in the Holmesville area where he grew up. He married Judy M. Palmer on April 22, 1962 in Benton, Ohio, his beloved wife of 48 years. She survives. He retired from the Hoover Co., in Canton in 2002 after many years of service. He was a member of ARRL (American Radio Relay League)and an avid Ham radio operator; was a concealed carry instructor; lifetime member of the NRA and had attended Grace Brethren Church in Wooster. In addition to his loving wife of the home and mother, Iva Farnham of Shreve, he is survived by his children, Jody (Bo) Thompson of Perrysville, Michelle Leiner of Reston, VA., Rex (Rayonna) Leiner, Jr. of Wooster and Christine (John) Grossenbacher of Perrysville; 10 loving grandchildren, John, Spencer, Erica, Joshua, Jordan, Katelin, Nicolette, Taylor, Tianna and Rayne and a great-grandson, Jayden; sisters, Linda (Dick) Fought of Wooster, Callie (Lee) Selders of Millersburg and brother, Wesley Farnham, Sr. of Shreve; step-siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as numerous friends and family. He is preceded in death by his father. His family and especially his grandchildren were an important part of his life- he was a very dedicated grandfather who remained very active throughout their lives. Rex will also be missed from those he was involved with the Trap-shooting circuit and had placed 9th internationally at the Grand Nationals in Vandallia, Ohio in 2004. This was an important achievement and his life-long passion.
